Description
Half title: Pliny's letters with observations.
The second volume states that it is the second edition; there were two London (and one Dublin) editions in 1751.
Vol.1 collates pi², A-2H⁸, 2I⁶ and vol.2 as pi², A-2H⁸, 2I⁴, each volume beginning and ending with two flyleaves as shown by their distinct water- and counter- marks. In vol.2, the Explanation of its copper plates occupies recto of final leaf (2I4) otherwise blank.

Translator's own copy, as claimed by a vendor and pencil note on flyleaf of vol.1, on basis: (a) of faint pencil inscription on the hard free first endpaper of vol.1 only which is covered by the first subsequent flyleaf pasted onto it: Orrery. Leicester Fields. Octob.r 10. 1751 (b) of the bindings, green vellum gilt, with coronetted O on spine. MS number 135 on flyleaf, possibly post 1852. Signature of Ann Hoare, 1752 (altered from ?1753). Some pencil index notes on 2nd flyleaf
