1 photocopied ts circular letter regarding the appointment of Brian Mitchell as General Secretary of the Society (8 May 1979); 1 ms letter to Silkin from the manager of the Poetry Society Bookshop; 3 ts letters from Brian G. Mitchell to Jon Silkin (14 November 1983 - 8 July 1985); 3 ms letters from Alan Brownjohn (9 May - 7 October 1986); 3 ms letters from Peter Forbes, editor of 'Poetry Review,' to Silkin (15 January 1990 - 21 November 1992), one of which is accompanied by a photocopied ts of Silkin's 'The Life That is Marriage' and ms note from Lorna Tracy; 1 ms letter from Kevan [sic] Johnson to Silkin (6 July 1992); 2 cc ts letters from Silkin to Peter Forbes, and 1 ms compliments slip from Forbes to Silkin (26 July - 13 August 1997). The 1997 correspondence with Forbes is accompanied by 4 drafts (ts, cc, and photocopied) of an open letter from Silkin to Forbes intended for publication (in 'Poetry Review'), concerning 'Stand' magazine and the Yasusada/Kent Johnson 'hoax.'Also held in
this file are minutes of meetings of the Executive and Management Committee of the Poetry Society on 24 August 1978, and 16 February and 25 April 1979.
