Description

Vols. 1 and 3, and part of v. 2 have running title: Life of Cowper.


The engravings, all by William Blake, comprise parts. of Cowper after Romney and Lawrence, a port. of Cowper's mother, Blake's original etching of the weather-house and Cowper's hares (v. 2, p. 415) and views of Cowper's grave and the monument designed by Flaxman. The engravings in v. 1-2 were "Publish'd Novembr. 5, 1802 by J. Johnson St. Paul's Church yard." The 2 plates in v. 3 were "Publish'd by J. Johnson St. Pauls 25 March 1804." Cf. Bentley.
