Bossuet's pamphlet, 'Exposition de la doctrine de l'Église Catholique sur les matières de controverse', 1671, had been replied to by William Wake in his 'An exposition of the doctrine of the Church of England in the several articles proposed by Monsieur de Meaux... [etc.]', to which this pamphlet in turn replies.
