Biography or history

Horace Harral was born on 29 June 1817 in Ipswich. Serving an apprenticeship with the wood engraver John Orrin Smith, he became a wood engraver, photographer and etcher. Harral was particularly known for his engravings of pre-Raphaelite paintings and his engravings for periodicals. He died on 23 January 1905 in Hastings.
