Description

Correspondence relating to the publication of 'The New Exeter Book of Riddles.' Includes 1 file of correspondence between co-editors Kevin Crossley-Holland and Lawrence Sail; 1 file of correspondence relating to contributors and editorial queries; 1 file of correspondence with publishers Enitharmon (Stephen Stuart-Smith) and Penguin; 1 file of new riddles (including correspondence and riddles/poems); 1 file of personal and general contributors' correspondence; 1 file of correspondence and other papers relating to the 'New Exeter Book' from correspondents at Exeter and Devon Arts Centre (later Exeter Phoenix) relating to the launch of the book; and 1 file containing publicity-related correspondence.


The 8th file contains correspondence and material relating to: royalty statements; a letter from Michael Longley containing a riddle, and one from Richard Skinner about his 'Exe' riddle; newspaper clipping about riddles and Lawrence Sail; a blurb about 'The Exeter Riddles' by Dr Gail-Nina Anderson written in Nov. 1989.
