Description
15 items of correspondence between David Wright and Geoffrey Hill. Includes 8 typescript letters, 2 ms letters from, and 2 ms letters written on the backs of colour photographs from Wright to Hill (6 February 1983 - 1 April 1994), and 1 cc typescript letter from Hill to Wright (30 July 1992). Wright's letter of 22 July 1989 includes his poem 'The Trough of Bowland'; Wright's letter of 5 May 1990 comprises a short typescript note; Wright' letter of 19 July 1992 is accompanied by a photocopied typescript of his poem 'A Doggerel for Geoffrey Hill'.Also held in the file is a typescript letter from Oonagh Swift to Geoffrey Hill informing him of Wright's death (29 August 1994), and a clipping of an obituary for Wright from an unidentified source.
