13 items of correspondence relating to the reissue and reprinting of Geoffrey Hill's 'Collected Poems' by Penguin, and related permissions requests. Includes:
- 3 typescript letters from Paul Keegan to Geoffrey Hill (11 September 1989 - 10 May 1990); Keegan's letter of 11 September 1989 accompanied by a colour cover proof of the collection;
- 1 typescript letter and 1 typescript fax from Penguin biography writer to Hill (12 April 1994 - 1 June 1994), and Hill's ms and faxed replies (31 May 1994 - 2 June 1994); Hill's letter of 31 May 1994 accompanied by 2 copies of the biographical blurb for Collected Poems with his ms revisions/corrections; there are 2 copies of Hill's fax dated 2 June 1994 comprising copies of the biographical blurb for Collected Poems with his ms revisions/corrections and ms note to the Penguin biography writer;
- 2 cc typescript and 1 ms letter from Hill to the Penguin Permissions Department (7 November 1993 - 19 July 1995), and 2 typescript letters and 1 ms compliments slip from the Penguin Permissions Department to Hill (11 November 1993 - 14 June 1995; 1 n.d. [ca. September 1995]); Penguin letter of 14 June 1995 accompanied by a typescript letter from the Very Revd. Robert Jeffrey (Dean of Worcester) and typescript words to the cantata The Man for Others, incorporating Hill's poem Christmas Trees; Hill's letter of 22 January 1995 accompanied by cc typescript letters from Hill to Hilda Schiff and René Gallet; Penguin undated ms compliments slip accompanied by compliments slip from André Deutsch publishers and an ms letter from Pascal Culerrier (23 August 1995).
