36 items of correspondence, chiefly between Robin Robertson and other correspondents at Penguin and Geoffrey Hill, relating to Hill's 'Collected Poems.' Includes:

- 13 typescript letters and postcards from Robin Robertson to Geoffrey Hill (24 August 1984 - 19 August 1986), and 4 cc typescript letters and 1 cc ms letter from Hill to Robertson (13 September 1984 - 18 September 1986); Robertson's postcard of 28 March 1985 is accompanied by a photocopy of the paste-up of the cover to Collected Poems;

- 1 typescript letter Penguin's Editorial Programme Organiser to Hill (2 April 1985);

- 4 typescript letters from correspondents at the Penguin Publicity Department to Hill (25 July 1985 - 14 January 1986), and 1 cc typescript letter from Hill to the Penguin Publicity Department (9 January 1986);

- 1 typescript letter from Penguin's 50th Anniversary Co-Ordinator to Hill (12 September 1985);

- 2 typescript letters from Penguin's Academic Marketing Department to Hill (21 November 1985 - 5 March 1986). The correspondence concerns the preparation of manuscripts, corrections of proofs, and publicity. Interspersed with the correspondence are ms notes by Geoffrey Hill, photocopies of annotated typescript drafts of the Introduction, blurb, acknowledgments, biographical note, epigraph and dedication page for 'Collected Poems'; a photocopied typescript of 'Hymns to Our Lady of Chartres' with ms note on its placement in the collection; 3 lists of names to receive review and complimentary copies of 'Collected Poems', and invitations to the launch event.Other related correspondence includes:

- 2 typescript letters from photographer Fay Godwin to Hill (7 December 1984; 1 n.d.), held with a catalogue of her work;

- 1 ms letter from Barrie Rickards to Hill (n.d.);

- 1 typescript letter from the Poetry Book Society to Hill (31 May 1985);

- 1 typescript letter from C.J.E. Ball (Keble College) to Hill (12 June 1985);

- 1 typescript letter on behald of Jeremy Tyndall at the Cheltenham Festival of Literature to Hill (19 August 1985);

- 1 ms postcard from Derek Brewer to Hill (1 October 1985), and 1 cc typescript letter from Hill to Brewer (1 October 1985);

- 1 cc typescript letter from Hill to Diana [Athill?] (12 June 1986).

The permission of the copyright holder must be sought for the use of quotations from manuscripts by Geoffrey Hill for works intended for publication.
