Features
The leaves are printed on vellum and comprise four columns on two sides. The text is from Luke 20 and John 11.
The major initial and chapter number are supplied in blue.
Bindings
The leaves are preserved in a brown buckram case. Gold-tooled on the front of the case are the words: A leaf printed on vellum from the first dated Bible. Biblia Latina - Mayence. Johannes Fust and Peter Schoeffer 1462.
Provenance
Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the inside cover of the buckram case enclosing the item. The leaves were most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
