Description
Hebrew title supplied by cataloguer. English title derived from Roth, "Catalogue", in Alexander Marx: Jubilee Volume, vol. 1 (New York, 1950), no. 70.
Summary
Contains 29 separate fragments (1 leather; 6 parchment; 22 paper), some of which comprise several leaves of varying sizes and shapes; Roth kept them together, and assigned them one class number. One fragment has Judaeo-Arabic phrases.
Among the fragments:
1 membrane of an Ester scroll (מגילת אסתר) containing the blessings to be read before and after the reading of Megilat Ester.
On vellum leaf with the benediction before donning the Talit.
One leaf (from a prayer book?) with the prayer beginning אנא השם אלהי החסד והרחמים אשר כל אורחותיך … וצונו להתעסק במתים בחסד ואמת (Davidson, Otsar ha-Shirah, vol. 1, 287, no. 6295).
Another membrane of an Ester scroll (leather) written for Daṿid Shemuʾel in the year 514 (1755 or 1756), דוד הר׳ שמואל דיבידארידוש שנת התקיו ליצירה, containing the blessings to be read before and after the reading of the Megilat Ester, as well as the hymn קורא מגילה הם by Avraham ibn Ezra.
One leaf with a kabbalistic prayer headed ספר אמתחת בנימן. תפלה נוראה מרבי ישמעאל [בן אלישע] כהן הגדול. אנא השם ה' אלהי ישראל שליט בעליונים (Sefer Amtaḥat Binyamin by Binyamin Benish ben Yehuda Leyb Hakohen was printed in Wilhermsdorf in 1715 or 1716).
Leaf with על פדיון האילן.
Sheet with handwritten version (Sephardic cursive) of the 'preface of the corrector' by Avraham Barukh Piperno to Sefer Zikaron la-nefesh (ספר זכרון לנפש) by Avraham ben Yeshaʿyah ha-Dayan, printed in Livorno, 1842; the written version lacks the heading הקדמת המגיה but is has the final paragraph, הב״ד הכו״ח לכבוד התורה פה ק״ק לווורנו יע׳׳א בשילהי חדש ניסן ו׳מ׳ת׳ו׳ק׳י׳ם׳ מדבש לפ׳׳ק. הצעיר אברהם ברוך פיפירנו ס׳׳ט; below it, is a catchword referring to the first word of the—not extant—introduction of the author as it is in the printed publication.
Insertions: Leaf with typed transcription of Piperno’s preface most probably by Roth. Some fragments are identified with small handwritten notes (maybe not in Roth's hand).
