Features

The books of the Bible are written in black ink manuscript, late fifteenth-century, at the top centre of rectos.

An inscription at the head of the first printed leaf has been crossed out but is still legible: Liber ecclesie Sancte dei genitricis marie sanctique Potentini in Steynuelt. This indicates that the book belonged to the Premonstratensian Abbey of SS. Mary, Potentinus, Felicius and Simplicianus in Steinfeld in der Eifel, formerly in the diocese of Cologne, now Aachen.

Two numbers are written at the top left hand corner of the front pastedown. In black ink manuscript: 482. In red pencil manuscript: 569.

There are notes in black ink manuscript at the top left hand corner of the front pastedown giving details of the edition.

The major initial on the first printed leaf is supplied and decorated in red and blue.

Other major initials supplied and decorated in red.

Capital strokes, paragraph markers and underlinings supplied in red.

This copy is missing the first blank leaf.

The book has pale blue paper pastedowns. Size: 392 x 310mm. Leaf size: 380 x 290mm.
