Bindings
Binding of full pale brown deerskin over pasteboard. The spine has five raised bands and in the second and third panels are the remains of labels or lettering pieces. There are stubs of vellum manuscript before and after the first and last leaves of the book. The leaf edges are sprinkled red and brown. Size: 345 x 238mm. Leaf size: 338 x 228mm.
Provenance
Inscription in black ink manuscript next to the printer's mark on uu10r, indecipherable but for: Ex libris [...]. The name that follows is possibly Johani vertu or veau. On the line beneath is another form of the name: Jean V.
Written in black ink manuscript in capital letters at the top of the back pastedown is the name of the bookseller: L. Le Roy.
Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
