Incorrectly entered as Sermones de sanctis by Goff (J191) and others. The title is given in the book as "Sanctorum et festorum per totum annum liber" - incipit (leaf a1r).


Printed in two columns with 60 lines to a full column.


Foliation printed in Roman numerals at the top right of rectos.


Printed headlines.


Table on leaves [*2r] and [*2v] giving details of feast days and saints.


Initial spaces, mostly with guide-letters.


Printer's mark of Octavianus Scotus and Bonetus Locatellus on leaf u4r with the monogram OSM.

Bindings


Binding of full vellum over pasteboard. Written directly onto the smooth spine in black ink manuscript are the words: Obras de Jacob de Voragine. The place and date are stamped in black at the base of the spine: Venice 1488. In the middle of the spine is the Brotherton Collection stamp in black. There is indistinct writing in ink manuscript at the top of the upper cover. Size: 240 x 180mm. Leaf size: 231 x168mm.

Inscription in black ink manuscript at the base of leaf [*2r], mostly indistinct but possibly: [...] q[uo]d pararus etat [...] salvandis.


Inscription in Spanish in black ink manuscript, sixteenth-century, at the base of leaf u4r, indistinct but for the date: 1585.


Small black and white armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
